Games in a Tesla, with your phone as the controller
For the wait while charging: Frunk.tv has eight games made for the car's screen, free games built in like Hedgewars, and an emulator to play your own console games. With the car parked, in the browser, with nothing to install.
Arcade: eight games for the car
- Trick or Treat, the Halloween game for kids and adults: catch candies with the pumpkin and dodge the ghosts, in one-minute games, in Easy (five lives) or Normal (three) mode. Also with a finger, a gamepad or your phone as the controller.
- Trivia: a quiz for the whole family, on the screen alone or with up to four players answering on their phones.
- Solitaire, with an electric deck, and Pothole Sweeper: clear the road without hitting a single pothole.
- Supercharge, where a train of batteries grows without crashing, and Range Run, an endless highway with an easy mode for kids. They are played with a finger, a gamepad or your phone as the controller.
- Plug It In, a puzzle of moving cars out of the way so the white car reaches the Supercharger, with hints, and Pairs, with cars, chargers and batteries.
To use your phone as the controller, scan the QR code on the screen with its camera, or type the five-letter code: there is no app to install.
Consoles: your games in the browser
Consoles uses EmulatorJS to play your own copy of a game for the NES, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, Nintendo DS, PlayStation, Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, PC Engine or Atari 2600.
- Open Consoles in the car and tap Add a game from your phone. The screen
itself explains it step by step.
Consoles: add a game from your phone, or choose a file on a computer. - Scan the QR code with your phone and send the game file (up to 800 MB). It is kept in the car's browser, not on the server; since a car update can wipe it, keep your own copy.
- Play with the touch controls, a USB or Bluetooth gamepad, or up to four phones.
Also Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein 3D and Cave Story with your own game files.
Native version, at 60 fps
Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64 and Super Smash Bros. are not emulated: Consoles opens them with the game rebuilt from its source code, at 60 fps, from your own copy. They need the uncompressed Nintendo 64 ROM (.z64, .n64 or .v64): US or Japanese for Super Mario 64, and US for Mario Kart 64 and Super Smash Bros., which take up to four players, each with their phone. Other versions or a .zip only work in the emulator.
Free games included
Frunk.tv offers no commercial games and no BIOS. The only ones included are free and labelled as such: Freedoom (for Doom engines), LibreQuake, Mr. Boom, a bomb game for four phones, and Hedgewars, turn-based hedgehog teams in the style of Worms: against the computer or 2 to 4 players, on the touchscreen or with a phone each as the controller. Nothing to send: they are in Consoles, under «Included · free games». To find free homebrew games for the Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and NES, Consoles links to Homebrew Hub.
From a computer
Frunk.tv works on a computer too: games are dropped on the page or picked with «Choose games», and you play with the keyboard, a gamepad or phones.
